A day in the life...

Spencer is obsessed with all things super hero. He is especially fond of this little guy. He got him with a Spider-man car from Great Grandma and Grandpa Oliver for Christmas a couple years ago. Now that he's old enough to know what superheros are, he is in love.  He lost his Spider-man and after not being able to find it for a couple months he finally decided he just had to have another one. So he took all his leftover birthday money and did 5 other jobs around the house (took all afternoon) to earn enough money to buy another one- but this time he got one with a Green Goblin too. Then we found his original one at Grandpa Woodstock's house a few weeks later, so he's going to give the extra to Rod for Christmas :)

For school we did Flat Stanley. He sent it to Kyra and Sadie in Texas.
He asked about it every other hour for the first couple days. Luckily he forgot about it. But when we got him back and he remembered, he was so excited to open it. He looked at the pictures over and over again.

 Got my haircut again.
My dad came up to visit mom's grave for the 2 anniversary of her death. I can't believe it's been 2 years.  But then again it feels like she's been gone a long time. I still miss her like crazy, but it's been amazing how much closer I've become with my dad and with my brother's and sister. Our heartache has brought us closer together.

On the day my dad came up my cousin Keola was also passing through with her little baby. My dad was nice enough to take us all out to eat. We went to a Mexican restaurant in town that had this cool guy in the lobby.
Keola with her sweet little boy Landon.
That same day Spencer also ate a lemon granola bar with cashews in it. I didn't know it had cashews, so when he ate one bite and then started spitting and shuttering, I just thought he was just being over dramatic because he didn't like it. After about 5 minutes of this I took a bite of the granola bar to see if it was really gross and noticed the nuts. I looked at him and his lip had started to swell. I gave him some allergy medicine and then my dad took him into his room to lay down. Then I hear my dad calling me. Spencer had thrown up and he was starting to break out in hives. I gave him some more medicine, but for the next half hour he kept throwing up and the hives were getting worse and worse. Then he started holding his chest like it was hurting him. Steve and Dad gave him a blessing and we decided we should probably take him to the hospital. Luckily it's only 2 blocks away.
We had to give all our insurance info at the front desk the whole time he was throwing up and his hives were getting worse. In the picture anywhere you see red-ish tint- that is not him over-heated or sunburned, it's the rash.  oxygen was a little low so they put him on oxygen. Then he got an IV (the most traumatic part for Spencer) and got him full of benadryl and steroids. He fell asleep and we hung out there for a couple hours to make sure it didn't get any worse and finally got to go home.

He had to take several doses of benadryl and steroids the next several days to make sure the reaction was completely out of his system. But within a few hours of getting home the hives were gone and he acting like nothing had ever happened.

On a happier note- We went to a parade in town. A helicopter with Santa Claus flew over head. This was Roddy's face the whole time. He loves helicopters.

The rest are self explanatory random pics:

Halloween 2014

Computer Error and Flapper

After changing his mind about a dozen times we finally came to
Harry Potter!

Superman!
Or as Rod says, "Supaman to da wescue!"

Preschool Halloween Party

Spencer had a really fun Halloween party last year with all his friends in regular Preschool, so I was really worried about doing one just for him (and Rod). But as usual, Spencer is a really good sport. Both the boys had a lot of fun at our Home-preschool Halloween Party.

Spiderweb obstacle course (I had to make it kind of easy so Rod could do it too)

Candy Count Math Worksheet (Rod colored)
Mummy Wrap (The boys favorite of course)

Cut and Paste Halloween Pattern worksheet (Rod ripped up his coloring page)

Healthy Candy Corn (Tangerines, pineapple and yogurt)
Jack-o-lantern puzzle for our craft

We also played "Don't Eat Jack" (don't eat Pete with Jack-o-lanterns) But Spencer did not like that game at all. It was way too stressful for him. He had major anxiety over whether he was going to choose Pete or not and finally said he didn't want to play anymore. The candy wasn't worth the stress.

Rod turns 2!

 Happy 2nd Birthday to Rod!
He still loves balls (especially basketballs)

Grandpa Woodstock and Amber's family came up to help us celebrate.

He was kind of confused, and every time we told him to blow at the candles he would just glare.

He loved the presents though!

(Also currently obsessed with puzzles)

Then we all dressed up and went to a Halloween carnival in town.

 Birthday Card from Grandpa Woodstock
Grew 5 1/2 inches since his last birthday.

We love our Rod! His little personality is starting to explode. He is talking like crazy and repeats everything he hears (we have to be careful what we say sometimes). He is a great eater. Loves to pester Spencer, cuddle, play catch, play with puzzles, and read. He's getting to that stage where he's testing limits- so a lot of screaming, tantrums, pouty faces and fake crying. But he is also very sweet, great in church & during car rides, quick to say he's sorry and loves to laugh.
