Catch up on Randomness

Sorry this is probably a scary picture to start out with. The next two pictures were Steve's final projects for his Drawing II class. He got an A! He did really well don't you think?

This is a comparison between his and the original.

Grandpa Tim and Paula stopped by on their way through town last month. Spencer loved Grandpa's sunglasses.
I was trying to be a good mom one Sunday and I thought I would do some fun activities with Spencer. One was finger painting with pudding. I loved doing this as a little girl. I usually did it with chocolate pudding on a white paper plate or wax paper or something. I only had vanilla pudding and no wax paper, etc. So we used the lid to a bowl because it was big and flat. I tried to show him how to do it but he just wanted to eat it...See video down below.

The Sunday before Thanksgiving Spencer's nursery class at church made these cute turkey hats. Spencer LOVES hats so he wore it all afternoon.
This was just a funny picture. Spencer was wearing his monkey hat, eating a banana and watching Curious George all at the same time.

Cute video of Spencer trying to read his new book, that Aunt Amber gave him, in the car but falling asleep. He kept trying to turn the pages but would nod off before he got it turned.

Happenings

We noticed that a lot of our silverware was disappearing from the house. We thought we were imagining things until my mom saw Spencer put a spoon in the vent we have in the wall. Steve opened it up and we found half our silverware and a couple magnets and puzzle pieces. I had heard him hitting silverware on this but I thought he was just running it across the ridges because it made a cool sound. I know better now. And it gave us a chance to vacuum it out and clean off the grate (thanks to my mom).

Spent a Saturday in St. George with my sister Amber and her kids. We all went and fed the ducks at the duck pond. It was more Scary than fun because Spencer kept trying to run into the water. (See above picture) He also got a fever while we were there and it turned into croup. Little kids are so sad when they are sick. We also gave croup to my nieces. (Sorry about that.)

Spencer has been in a "big boy bed" for a couple months now and he's still doing great. This is a cute picture of him cuddling with his teddy bear.

Unfortunately he also doesn't like his diapers anymore. He will take them off when he's alone in his room and then fall back asleep. We've had to wash his bedding several times. Fortunately this day I found him before he wet the bed.

One of our favorite family activities is making cookies. Spencer loves licking the mixer whisks. He doesn't get that when he licks the spoon it's the same thing. My mom made banana bread the other day and he wouldn't touch the spoon she gave him to lick. So she got the electric mixer whisk out of the drawer and dipped in the batter and he went to town on that. Silly guy.

All in all we are currently healthy and happy. Steve only has one month left in the semester. One year of school down. 3ish to go. (That's him in the background doing homework...or checking his fantasy football...whatever) :)

Quick one

Quick funny story.

Spencer was put into his room for time out because he ripped one his library books. I usually only leave him in there for a couple minutes but I started checking my email and he was so quiet I forgot. So 10 minutes later I go to his room to get him out and he has turned off the light, gotten into bed, pulled his blanket over him and fallen asleep. (It was past his bed time anyway so I just left him)

:) He should put himself to bed every night

*Sigh

Will there ever be a time when I can take Spencer out in public again? Right now it's filled with him running around as fast he can getting into everything that he's not supposed to and then having a complete temper tantrum meltdown when he doesn't get his way.

It's so embarrassing.

My big boys!

Happy Birthday Steve!!!
(Warning our camera is broken so all the pictures are from our poor quality cell phone)
Steve turned 29 yesterday! We both worked and he had school so we didn't go crazy with the celebration but he did have some cards, including a homemade one from Spencer. My mom also made him chicken enchiladas and homemade apple pie. (both of our moms make killer apple pies-One day maybe I'll be able to compete) From me/himself he got a new suit, and boy did he need it. His suit now is 10 years old and fits and looks like it's 10 years old. It had to be tailored because he's such a tall boy but he'll get it next week. Spencer helped him blow out his candle. Spencer actually really did blow it out too and thought it was so fun he wanted to keep doing it. I had today off so we met Steve on campus and ate lunch with him. It' great spending time together.

As you've learned from earlier posts-Spencer loves shoes. Lately he's been wearing my high heel shoes. This picture is me saying "smile" and him doing what he thinks is smiling. (Don't you love the mix of black pumps with a red baseball hat and trex-robot shirt)

Spencer is as picky as ever about what he eats. He'll eat pretty much any fruit or dairy product. But other then that he only eats oatmeal, pancakes, french toast, tortillas w/melted cheese and tostinos cheese pizza (not any other brand or flavor) and sometimes waffles, fish sticks, toast and nutrigrain bars. That's it. We make delicious homemade meals every night and he won't touch them. *sigh* This is him enjoying pancakes with jam.

Spencer has also entered the realm and terrible two's. He looks all cute and innocent in this car ride at walmart but had a complete meltdown in the middle of the store when I took him out. I now know how all those mom's felt when their child was throwing a fit and everyone was staring at her and there was nothing she could do about it.

One thing I can thank and praise Spencer about is he's a wonderful sleeper. 99.5% of the time he goes to bed and takes a nap without fighting at all. He was climbing out of his crib as you read about before (below is picture of him falling asleep on his changing pad on the floor after he got out of his crib) So we moved him to a big boy bed with short gate/frame around it so he doesn't fall out. He didn't mind at all. It's been a week- he loves his bed and is sleeping like a champ. I'll try to get a picture soon. It's so cute.

Troublemaker

This is the crazy weirdness that is our son. He's a thrill seeker. He loves to jump and be thrown and go up high with his daddy.

He always fights me when I try to put on his pants. So unless we are going out in public I sometimes let him win. If he finds hats, shoes or gloves he will put them on. This time they are all his but many a times he'll be wearing mommy's shoe, grandma's gardening glove and grandpa's hat.

He was a trouble maker this morning. He has recently learned how to climb out of his crib. This is usually the scene we find when we go to get him in the morning. (This morning was a little worse than usual though. He usually doesn't take all the bedding off the twin bed.)
At least he's reading right....

But then he calms down and reads a book with daddy and we forget what a troublemaker he is and love him to bits.

We visited Grandpa Oliver and Grandma Paula while we were up North for our visit. Paula made us a delicious meal including sweet potato fries that Spencer loved! I haven't been able to replicate them successfully but I'll keep trying.

Spencer had fun playing with his Grandpa. We were inside eating while they went outside and played for about 20 minutes. Spencer was loving it.

Spencer discovered his first barbie while he was there. He didn't know what to make of it...

He did like pretending to feed her fries while mommy held her though.
