March and April Catch Up

This kid adores this year.
Family photo with my coworkers since we all had complementary outfits.
One of my favorite memories of Andrea. She came up one day and said “I can see all the mommys” She realized if she crosses her eyes it gives her double vision. So she would randomly go cross eyed and say “I can see all the phones”, “I can see all the brothers” etc.
I took Andrea to the doctor for her 2.5 year well check and she was terrified of everything this time. She would not let the nurses check anything. As we were waiting for the doctor I told her it was ok he was just going to check her ears and heart. She was not having that. So as we were sitting waiting she watched the show that was playing while she covered her ears and tummy so the doctor couldn’t touch them when he came in.
Love warm spring nights and searching for bugs.
Preschool fun.
Andrea gave me heart attack the other day. She went upstairs and then it got quiet. I asked Jeffrey to go up and see if she was ok. He said she wasn’t up there. So I check with Robin-not there. Checked up stairs myself-not there. All the rooms one more time- no where. Did she get outside and I didn’t notice? I go outside and start looking and yelling for her. Nothing. I start to freak out. But I force myself to take and deep breath and look in each room one more time in every nook and cranny. I get through Andrea and Spencer room, go to Jeffrey’s room and find her asleep on his bunk bed. Ugh. Their room was a mess and because of the towel hanging on the bed I couldn’t see her. Ugh.

We finally got Spencer a big kid bike.
Andrea had a bad fall and got big fat lip. Made even worse the next day when we were on a walk and she fell straight onto her lip again on the sidewalk. Then later that day she hit herself in the nap with her snippy cup. Poor girl.

Went out to breakfast with grandma and grandpa Woodstock and naturally got a hamburger and root beer.
Jamen had a birthday party that we were able to attend since they were living in the states for awhile between Jamen’s job change in Germany. Loved being able to spend a special event with their family since I don’t have the chance very often. Also, this carrot cake Krista made was the best I ever had.

Jeffrey's surgery

This cute kid had surgery a week ago to fix an umbilical hernia. He was such a trooper through the whole thing.

He had a bit of a scary reaction to the anesthesia. He woke up, was talking, drinking, grumpy😏, and then fell asleep and his oxygen plummeted for a few minutes. It went back up on it's own but then we couldn't wake him up. A lot of nurses and the anesthesiologist came back in and words like "seizure, stroke, brain activity, CT scan " were being thrown around. I was trying to stay composed but couldn’t stop crying (all the memories of Spencer and his anaphylaxis). It was finally decided that the oxygen drop was probably a weird fluke, and he was having a delayed and more sensitive reaction then most kids to the anesthesia. Anesthesiologist said he "probably" just needed to sleep longer and let his metabolism work it off. Thankfully he was right. He slept about an hour and a half longer and then was wide awake and back to normal. Nurses and Dr examined him again and we were discharged 30 minutes later. I half jokingly told Jeffrey he was sleeping a long time and scared me.
Me: "Why were you sleeping for so long?"
Jeffrey: shrugs “I was really tired."
Looking back I still don't know if I over or under reacted, but thankfully he recovered great and we're so grateful for the wonderful medical professionals that were so professional and kind (especially to a very upset mom).

Also funny side story. Jeffrey sometimes gets nervous talking to adults he doesn’t know. So anytime the doctors and nurses were in the room he wouldn’t talk. He would just stare at the them and sometimes give a small nod or thumbs up. The first time he woke up one of the nurses asked if he had a speech delay. Haha. I said no, he was just shy. One of the other nurses verified that she heard him chattering away through the door whenever it was just me and him. So the second time he woke up when we were trying to get discharged they needed to verify he was cognitively ok after his weird reaction. So I had to prep him and say, “if you want to go home to have to talk. When they ask you something you have to use words and talk loudly for them to hear.” :)

Easter 2021

I think I’ve finally found a new tradition I love for Easter Baskets. Kids get a chocolate bunny, book and some sort of arts and crafts.

This moment will live rent free in my mind forever. Once she realized that candy was in the eggs she stopped searching, lay down with her eyes closed and contentedly licked her jelly bean.
